Disposition:
• Helpful: Being a cultivator, he's helpful, as it's part of his job, but he is extra obliging at Mo manor in the beginning of the series, particularly with Mo Xuanyu (who happens to be Wei Wuxian in disguise). He aids the aforementioned man multiple times throughout: letting him do what he wishes with the Stygian Lure Flag, protecting him from being attacked at least twice. Following that, he even helps fight the monster atop Dafan mountain alongside his fellow juniors and the same aforementioned man.
During the gathering at Yi City, he had no hesitation in helping Wei Wuxian make spicy congee to cure the poisoned disciples. And, although he had no reason to, he aided in encouraging them to eat, even after tasting and discerning himself that it was indeed overly spicy.
• Loyal: Many, many times he has outrightly shown his allegiance to his friends and family; jumping to the defense of Lan Wangji; protecting Wei Wuxian without knowing it's him; recklessly leaping into battle to protect his loved ones.
He fought puppets alongside Wen Ning and Jin Ling and was also one of the juniors who attempted to join Wei Wuxian's self-sacrifice during the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds, showcasing his bravery and loyalty. Even if he wasn't allowed to stay, he still waited and went back anyway seeing Lan Wangji carrying an exhausted Wei Wuxian, who promptly fell unconscious on Sizhui after teasing him on suddenly becoming ‘mute’ when the boy was at a loss for words about why he'd been so worried.
• Soft-spoken: During many points throughout the series, we see this come up: protecting Mo Xuanyu (Wei Wuxian in disguise, though he does not know) when he was being attacked by fellow Mo family members, stopping a fight between Lan Jingyi and Mo Xuanyu to let the latter do what he pleased with the spirit-attraction flag, and helping fight throughout the battle that came later in the night.
Following the events of Yi City, the entire group ends up at an inn, where a fight ensues between the juniors shortly thereafter; Lan Sizhui saw beyond the black-and-white morality of the cultivation world, as he suggested that Wei Wuxian might not have been as evil as society claimed, upsetting Jin Ling in the process. Regardless of his friend's unruly attitude, he still apologizes and suggests, quite polite-like, that they have their dinner rather than continue arguing in such a manner. When it seems Lan Jingyi and Ouyang Zizhen intervening won't be the end of things, Lan Wangji blessedly shows up, putting an end to the tussle right away, as no junior wants to question the word of Hanguang-jun, but it helps they are all stunned by the fact Lan Wangji is ordering alcohol.
• Observant: He's been shown to be alert and intuitive, figuring out Mo Xuanyu's motives were not that of a crazy person at all and revealing knowledge in figuring out who'd been possessed by a certain Stygian Tiger Seal by checking peoples' arms.
After running into Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian during a nighthunt in Yi City, he and Jin Ling both help aid Wei Wuxian with making congee to help their fellow poisoned juniors. Once cured, they encounter a girl (A-Qing) outside who he figures out is blind and mute. Shortly thereafter, an injured Xiao Xingchen, who is later revealed to be Xue Yang through Inquiry and Song Lan once Lan Sizhui uses his guqin. Despite wanting to stay behind with Wei Wuxian, the man encourages him to put his leadership skills to use and help the other juniors, which he does in spite of his reluctance.
• Stubborn: Three notable times this is seen are both when he firmly (although gently, nevertheless) backtalks his
Again, after Grandmaster Lan Qiren is unconscious, Lan Wangji orders Sizhui to bed, which he protests at first, although ultimately relents whenever Hanguang-jun continues pressing.
And the third is when he's recalling memories with Wei Wuxian, talking about things the man had taught him when younger, prompting Wei Wuxian to physically quiet him. But, even after that, he continues standing his ground, until being threatened to "be buried in a dirt pile" like when he'd been younger, leading to him ultimately hugging his adoptive father's legs in delightful retaliation.
Under pressure: As a rather prestigious Lan disciple, Sizhui has always proved a very capable and proper cultivator. He's been known to take on leadership roles (directing his fellow juniors at Mo manor when nighthunting, leading an entire group of his peers away from danger in Yi City, taking the reins and battling puppets to help at the Burial Mounds), but is also quite obedient to the right extent.
Having been thrust into a world he's unfamiliar with, he'll be friendly and amicable as always while constantly working toward finding a way home. Although he's raised as a Lan and has a strong sense of propriety, he's well-adjusted to being touched and has no problems with physical interaction. This, he'd believe, would help everyone involved, both Gembonded and Gems alike.
Condition upon arrival: Perfect, if not near perfect condition.
Abilities:
• Swordsmanship: Lan Sizhui was a master of the Gusu Lan Sect's style of swordsmanship. In addition, he learned techniques of both the Yunmeng Jiang Sect from Jin Ling, and the Qishan Wen Sect from Wen Ning.
• Archery
• Horseback riding
• Talismans
• Inquiry: Lan Sizhui's proficiency in this skill was qualified as 'fine' by Lan Wangji. While the summoned spirit could still avoid answering any question asked, the spirit would not be able to lie. However, Lan Sizhui was not yet able to interpret long and complex sentences in the guqin language.
• Spirit-Attraction Flag: In Mo Village, Lan Sizhui used a spirit-attraction flag to summon the puppets that had been spotted near the village.
• Compass of Evil: Lan Sizhui displayed familiarity with the use of the Compass of Evil while attempting to locate the soul-stealing entity on Dafan Mountain.
On top of these bullet points, Lan Sizhui being a cultivator with a strong golden core, is far more durable and nimble than a human, heals faster, has better stamina, can cast spells alongside using the aforementioned talismans and also fly on his sword.
Inventory: His qiankun pouch, complete with his guqin, extra robes, a couple of reed butterflies and some fire talismans.
Gembond: Emerald.
Gem Location: Between the shoulderblades.
