Hello, you've reached Lan Sizhui. I'm not here at the moment, it seems, but leave a message and I'll get back to you!

Weird.
Chastity Headband is definitely a new one.]
So strict! No matter Lan Xichen seemed so
like that.
He's got that aura, you know?
He was telling me a little about cultivation and golden cores and all. It's really different from how things are done where I'm from. Your guys' way all sounds like magic to me.
no subject
I do know. [mostly because lans are supposed to be strict, but the newest generation seem less so.] But I also understand how his aura would exude such things.
It's proper that the head of our sect be a little strict, though.
Did he? Fantastic! I suppose it sounds like magic because... well, it is magic, to be frank. A lot of what we do involves magical abilities alongside physical ones.
no subject
Sounds like a lot of responsibility. No thanks!
You should show me some of that magic sometime! Your world sounds really interesting, so I want to know more. I wonder if you could teach some of those things to people here...?
[She's not sure she COULD actually learn, but she figures if it's something she could integrate into her own exorcism abilities... Well, why not? She's curious enough to try.]
Where I'm from you're born with the abilities, or you're not. Sometimes accidents can awaken the ability in you, but it's even rarer than being born with them.
no subject
I'd absolutely be willing to show you! And if people have the ability to learn, I'll teach them, too. If they have something similar to a golden core, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to? [although they all have gained new abilities through their gems, he sees no harm in teaching others the way of cultivation, too.]
Huh... interesting! Back home, many people can become cultivators so long as they work hard to strengthen their core, but the trick is starting at a young age or else it doesn't work as well.
no subject
Not sure if I have one of the golden core things—probably not, I guess?— but I can exorcise spirits and all. I’m one of the few who can both see and hear them—some people can either do one or the other, but most don’t notice them at all.
Got the ‘started from a young age’ thing down though. It started when I was 3.
no subject
Golden core or not, if you can exorcise spirits, you're already halfway into cultivation and that's amazing! Is there a reason people can only do one or the other? I suppose having just one sense would make life somewhat easier in the long run.
Goodness, yes, that's probably the perfect age. Around three is when I remember starting to learn myself.
no subject
[Miu do not be MEAN for NO REASON!!]
I don't know though. I think it's just rare. It's not like there aren't an abundance of dead people and spirits around, but there's maybe like. 1 person who can see AND hear AND has enough spiritual power to exorcise them alone for every like...100 spirits or something like that.
Most people that claim they can are either insane, making things up to trick people out of their money, or if they ARE being truthful, are labeled one of those other things anyhow.
Doesn't really make it worth it to hone your skills if you have them.
no subject
[yeah, miu, he's just trying to be nice!]
I see, and that's different compared to my world where people can learn the skills rather than they are just born with them. A point-zero-one chance isn't much of a chance, after all, even though it still counts as something.
No, I suppose it would be difficult to want such abilities if that's how people treat you. It's not very encouraging being called insane or mistaken as a sham. For what it's worth though, I'll believe you whenever you tell me about anything spirits-wise, no matter how ‘crazy’ it might sound. [because he completely understands this insanity.]
no subject
Like i don't know. a bad temper or a crippling gambling addiction.
[Jeez, stop being nice!! Stop sympathizing with her!!!]
no subject
I suppose I'm stubborn at times. I'm also young, so there is still that teenage brashness every now and then. [alright, fine, he gave her a two-fer.]
Nobody's perfect, you know? [except hanguang-jun, but he doesn't brag, so.] No matter how hard they might try.
no subject
You're so weird. [And then, at least semi-truthfully:]
That's a compliment, sort of. Really didn't expect you to put out such an honest assessment of yourself like that.
no subject
his immediate reaction is to go on the defense, yet sizhui hesitates when another message comes, brow knitting while he considers: is weird really so bad? (there are worse things to be.)]
Then I accept the compliment. You'll soon find that I am mostly rather straightforward like that.
